I bought a home thorugh Eastwood homes and moved in Memorial Day Weekend and within about 1 1 1/2 weeks I began experiencing symptoms, some of them are: headaches, nauseous and fatigue. I contacted Anthony Rippy to get information about possible ways there could be a carbon monoxide leak because of these symptoms, but since I have not had the gas turned on yet he said there was no possible way there could be a leak.
My health continued to decline and I continued to see my doctor on a regular basis (almost weekly for the last 4 months) trying to figure out what was wrong. At one point a couple of months back I thought I had bronchitis or pneumonia because I was so sick. Last Tuesday, I thought I contracted pink eye plus all of the previous symptoms mentioned above, but by the next day I realized it was something much more than pink eye and I tried to contact my doctor, I learned she was overseas and because of the delayed response from her I took the initiative to go see a new doctor and get another opinion only to find out that the carpets in my home have a chemical in them that I have a severe allergy too. I decided to bring in environmentalist industry to have my home inspected because as you will see on the additional documents sent with this letter, I kept a diary of how I was feeling in the home during the few months I was there versus how I felt outside the home for a few days. As you will see, all of my symptoms have cleared up, saying this, these professionals found mold (Penicillium) within this home along with high levels of formaldehyde within the building materials. This has caused damage to my lungs (uncertain if this is long term damage at this point) and now I have to detox my whole body from all of this. I have spent over $5,000 in doctor bills and meds to correct the problems I have been having, but until I finally left the home none of these issues would go away. I am not the only sick, my fiancee was sick from this, both of our dogs were sick and we recently had to give up his dog because of all the issues he developed from this and we had no money to help him. My mom was there for a 1 1/2 weeks and she was complaining of a headache and was sleeping ALL the time and also the environmentalists were there about an hour and told me they were even feeling bad. I have a spot on my living carpet and Eastwood is not even interested in having anyone go over and check the slab to see if it is cracked which is covered under warranty.
Eastwood went out and had test done on the home with their own selected company and they had the same results as my company did, but when Eastwood came back after 2 months of waiting on test results and their decision. Upon receiving their decision, I am NOT happy, they are not taking any responsibility to fix what is causing the high levels of formaldehyde, which I have been told could possibly be the dry wall. If we are lucky it is only the flooring and the back side of the cabinets and drawers not being sealed properly. Eastwood decided to blame me for this problem and would not assist in helping to pay for what they believe needs to be fixed which is a better ventilation system, UV light, and letting the house air out. My question is with there being a building material within the home causing this problem, how is this fixing it? It is like going to a doctor and them giving you something just to manage the symptoms but not finding the cause and fixing that instead. I have lived in 5 different homes not including my apartment and three of these homes were brand new when my family moved in. I have never had any of these problems until I moved into this home. I have witnesses at the apartment complex who knew I would get up early in the morning to workout and run before going into work and I was very active at church. This all changed when I moved into this home. My activity and energy level has taken a 180 turn on me since I moved from the apartment to this home. I have lost my job due to the fact I could not make it into work and work from the office because of sick from the house. I am stuck with this house and cannot sell it to anyone else because NO one can live in this house with the problem that is going on in the home. I am needing help to get this resolved and corrected by Eastwood as My fiancee and I do not have any money to pay the mortgage much less fix whatever is wrong with this home.
