About a year ago, I walked into Lazyboy in Melbourne, FL on West New Haven. PG greeted me and I told her exactly what I wanted. I told her I had certain disabilities and told her what they were so she would show me the best recliners for me. Money was no object. She was very nice and told me she would take good care of me. I told her I wanted a recliner that hugged me and gave me really great support because of my pain level being what it was. We saw several chairs and I picked what I thought was the best one and on her recommendation. I paid $800 cash and it was delivered the next day. During the time we talkedabout our grandkids and it was very pleasant.
As soon as the chair was delivered, I saw that the foot rest was crooked... Leaning down on the right side. I called PG and told her I had a defective chair and she angrily said it wasn't the chair... That anyone with my disabilities would not be comfortable in any chair! And hung up. I guess she made her sale and was done with me. I then called their warehouse and a wonderful man named Chris came out to change the hardware, but it didn't work. He came again with a new bottom. The seat and back fell in and he restuffed them. That held for a while, but the seat caved in again and I had bars pressing into me. And the chair was fell down when I was sitting in it many times. Chris was uavailable, so they sent out two more men who were also very nice and fixed it again! After they left, I sat down and the chair fell in again. I called the warehouse for some help. I was told that PG had said the following about me:
1. My chair is not holding up because I am using it as my bed! Who does that? I use my chair to read or watch tv. I have a bedroom with a wonderful bed and sleep there! I never told her that... It was a total lie on PG's part! She COMPLETELY lied to another employee about me!
2. I have grandchildren (don't live with me & are not allowed on my chair) and she told another employee my grandsons are breaking my chair! WHAT??? PG has grandchildren... Do they break her furniture??? I hope they are better behaved than that! But my grandchildren know better and have other places to sit. This recliner is for me only.
3. This is the BEST LIE! She said that I put the foot rest up and CRAWL over the foot rest into my chair. First of all I am a disabled senior and could never do that, but also why would anyone ever do that??? Maybe she does? As a normal person, I sit down in my chair and I put up the footrest.
4 And lastly, when she said that I would never be comfortable in any chair, when I called her, she used my disabilities against me. Aren't there laws protecting me from that?
Chris will be coming out again to try to stop my chairs from falling and I will NEVER walk back into that store nor will any of my family and friends. Everyone was so appalled at how I was treated by PG. Lots of other retail outlets sell LazyBoy Furniture and will not abuse or tell lies about their customers. I am pretty sure this has happened to other customers. SO Beware!
