We hired Bobola Roofing in April to put a new roof on our house. It is now August - he's walked off the job and left our house open to the elements but for a thin sheet of tarpaper. We have hired a new contractor, and he has to remove the entire section of roofing that he DID do because it was so poorly done.
To add insult to injury, Bobola tried to file a police report and get me arrested because "she didn't pay me the money she owes me"... We gave him 1/3 (plus an extra grand) up front to get started in April, listened to excuse after excuse why the roof wasn't going to be started this week... Ad nauseum. They finally started in June, and had "Rap Boy" and "CrackHead" doing the job. We called and wanted to know why these two inexperienced kids were on our 3 story roof with no tethers! No good answer. Asked to see his certificate of insurance... Never saw it. He walked off the job on August 1 with less than half the roof done - because we wouldn't give him any more money until the job was half finished, as per our contract.
After checking him out online, we found complaint after complaint, discovered he declared bankruptcy in February of last year. He's been arrested for physically assaulting another customer who wouldn't pay for his shoddy work - and really, he's still in business. Call me crazy - but I think we should've hired someone else ;)
Oh, and he tried giving me a song and dance about why he needed money to finish our roof even tho he wasn't holding up his end of the contract: "my Harley payment is 4 months overdue and I have to keep the garage shut so they don't take it. It's an $18,000 bike and last week i tried to sell it for 10K and couldn't get no takers. My wife's been outta work for the last year and she's going on social security disablility but we ain't got any of the money yet. I ain't made my mortgage payment for july yet. I ain't paid my guys for the last two weeks..." and on and on and on. Can you see why perhaps i thought giving him MORE of MY money was not a good idea? Like he'd use any money to finish my job? Yeah, i don't think so either.
So Bobola... No. Never. Ever. Ever. Never hire this idiot.
