I loaned my Mitsubishi Outlander to a friend for a week. He took it in for a simple oil change. Jiffy Lube at Mill Creek, Washington, said they couldn't do a simple oil change, he would have to get their Signature Service 4x4, which included an oil change plus check of all other fluid levels, tire pressure etc. They broke one tire-valve tip and returned the car to him with the spare on, telling him that they had potentially 'saved his life' by 'detecting' a faulty tire-valve.
So it cost me 35 dollars for a simple oil change (there were no other fluids that needed replenishing, nothing else to be done on the car, which was in perfect condition) %u2013 and another 40 dollars to buy a replacement ATP valve, 20 dollars to have it fitted and the wheel balanced and now I still will have to take it in to the dealer and pay 40 dollars to get t he new valve recognized by the system, so it does not show up as a 'faulty tire'.
Thats a total of 135 dollars and lots of wasted time for a simple oil change at Jiffy Lube.
