Ashley Furniture manager called the police when we asked for our money

Here is my email I sent them which explains what happened.

Good Day,

We have decided to contact you because your local store at 404 E. McCullough Drive in Charlotte, N.C. Will not refund our money. We have returned the furniture. My wife purchased a dining room set from your store. We decided we wanted a refund. We came to your store this morning. I was speaking to a salesman, when the Sales Manager Michael
Childers interjected. He had a very aggressive attitude. He told us to calm down yet we were not upset. We did not use any profanity during our conversation. I did point my finger and said we want our money. My hand was not pointed toward his face or anywhere near his body. He is twice my size and I find it comical he would be intimidated by me. My
wife and 2 children were present. Mr. Childers proceeded to take our paperwork throw it on the ground in front of our entire family. We were shocked. I am sure Ashley Furniture does not condone their employees acting this way. I think the reason he did so was was to elicit a reaction from me and escalate the situation. I have never encountered a
manager act that way.

He called the police and we also called. During my conversation with 911, I explained that we simply wanted our money
back. While on the phone with the 911 dispatcher, he asked us to leave the store which after my conversation with 911 I did. After the police arrived, I explained to him I would stay outside and let him handle the business with my wife. He adamantly refused to even refund my wife her money. Then he said he did not want the police at the store, yet he
also called them.

As it stands, Ashley Furniture has our money and your furniture.in addition, we attempted to speak to Lorenzo Jordan who was our Sales Associate. We called him at (786) 252-#. He would not help us but told us to contact customer care. We were disappointed he did not keep his word earlier to make things right. The Police officer also gave us a card with this information on the back: (704) 295? @ [email protected] 2820 Selwyn Ave Suite 300 Charlotte, N.C. 28269. On the front of the card, we noticed it was Mr. Childers business card. His contact information is [email protected]. He attempted to hide his information on the card by defacing the card. We still have
the card. I also had a Charlotte Mecklenburg police officer call me at home. His number is (704)#. I have no concern with you speaking to him. I explained what we did and thanked him for his assistance. We assured him we would handle the matter in a professional way.

As it stands, Ashley Furniture has our money and the furniture. We also feel Mr. Childers conduct as a manager was very disrespectful and dangerous. Some individuals might react differently than how we did. I guess Mr. Childers felt certain groups of people fit into those ugly stereotypes that sadly still exist. You just as a manager do not throw a customers
paperwork on the floor. That is indefensible and demeaning. I had to explain to my 6 and 12 year old why he did that. Do you have any idea how difficult that is? I think our entire family deserves an apology for such disgraceful conduct. I also think as a Manager, it sets a bad example for your company. How do you think other customers who were in
the store will react to seeing a Manager throwing a customers paper on the floor. The moment we asked for a refund everyone in your store acted totally different and passive aggressive. I am aware that dealing with customers is not an easy job. However, I have worked with the public and you never escalate the situation with words or actions. We were not loud or belligerent in any way. If you have store video, it will validate everything I have stated here.in addition, the police officer on the scene can validate our conduct. We thanked him and left the store.

Also as a father, please express my sincere thanks to Michael Childers. He allowed me to show my 12 year old son how to react when he is disrespected. We all see stories on the news of violent and often deadly encounters when people lose their composure. I hope Michael Childers also can learn from this and grow as a person and manager. We
at this point just would like our money refunded to us as soon as possible. Thanks for your assistance in this matter.
