I called Air Care Solutions after getting a coupon on the mail from moneymailer.com. They are advertising two packages: $59 and $129. This is in Charlotte - NC. I did set up an appointment on January 31.
They came home and my wife did the talk with the technician named Israel and his assistant George. They told her about the horrible condition of the air ducts and that they would do their best to clean the air system. After their sales speech my wife called me at work to talk to the Israel (the Technician). He quoted first for a complete service $1,100. I was stunning since I had in mine to spend no more than $59. He told me how dirty and dangerous it was the condition of my house air ducts.
He said that he could do a great job for a fraction of what it could cost replacing the air ducts of my house. He said that replacing my air ducts would be around $5,000 to $7000. I was not sure about his presumption since my house is 1500sq ft. He told me that he could charge me $249 to sanitize the air ducts, $495 for a UV light to kill germs and mold, and $129 for the promotional package to guarantee the full service. This include whole house air duct cleaning plus free a/c & duct inspection, free washable electrostatic filter (life time warranty), free basic dryer vent cleaning.
Also, they charged $20 per return. I was hesitant to do the job but I thought about my family and the poor air quality that they have been exposed after Mr. Technician speech. I ask him if he could work with me and provide a fair price and he said that he could reduced the UV light and do some adjustments on the invoice. As a result, I paid $900 total. He charged me $372.35 on a UV light that it actually cost $125 online, $249 to sanitize the air ducts, $79.80 on four air returns when they were advertising one for free, $129 for the 2nd package, $19.95 for mold control that I was never told and $49.90 on connection box that it was never installed neither brought up in our conversation.
I feel very frustrated and mislead upon the fact that they sold to me a UV light with a 300.28% profit margin and on top of that they squeezed few extra charges for things that I was never told. The technician is so outrages that he gave a false phone number as a contact on the back of the invoice. I called to their office (904) 329-1086 and no one will return my calls. I made I mistake by rushing my decision thinking on the well being of my family. During this difficult times you will come across with more scams, so be aware of who are you doing business with.
I will go to the media to make it even more public. I can believe that the Government allows companies like this to get away from abusing honest people.
