A Bright Effects Daynight 3-way CFL bulb, approximately 6 months old, was left on for about 4 hours while I was out of the house. When I returned the smell of electrical stuff burning was overpowering and the lamp was not lit. Following the smell and checking the unlit bulb, I found a burned spot at the base of the bulb where the curly glass meets the plastic housing. It was charred and still very warm. Bulb life is supposed to be about 8000 hours. We did not even come close. And this is the first time I have ever had any problem with a CFL. Won't be buying this brand again and will check to make sure anything I buy is made in the USA.
