I bought a Rowenta DG8030 Steam Iron in Nov. 2008 and received it the first of Dec. 2008. I paid $299.00 for the iron and a 5 year extended warranty. I never received a copy of said warranty from Bankers Warranty Group until May 30.1 month and 5 days after they received my iron for repair/replacement. I had instructed them to not mail the check and that I would like to have my old iron back. Was told by customer service that it was salvaged on the day it was received.
I received a phone message 2 days after iron was received stating that it would not be economical to repair and that I would be receiving a check in the amount of $108.98 for the depreciated value of the iron. I have kept all emails stating repair and replace but all brands won't budge. They have become rude and basically saying bug off this is what you get.
I had to pay extra for the warranty and $27 shipping to send it back to them. I guess I got 2years out of a 5 year $299.00 iron and nothing else but the lesson STAY AWAY FROM ANY WARRANTY THAT IS SERVICED BY BANKERS WARRANTY GROUP (BWG). Allbrands.com has some good prices but they use BWG and that really knocks their value daown.
