On9/14/03 I ordered and paid in full for baby furniture. Delivery began on 12/6/03 when two men arrived in a rented U-Haul truck. After leaving them to their jobs for over two hours, I checked on their progress and found my stairway walls and ceiling filthy with dirt from their hands and bodies and dings and deep dents in the walls, ceiling, heating vent, window and base mouldings.
There was also damage to the upper portion of a two-piece armoire unit they were attempting to move up the stairs.
After inquiring I was told the armoir was impossible to move up the stairs. They delivered the other furniture and left the armoire outside my back door. After immediately calling Sid & Me to complain, I called a local professional moving service who arrived promptly and moved the armoir up the stairs without problem, at a cost of $100.
I then recieved an estimate and subsequently paid for repair, patching and repainting of the walls and ceiling in the stairway, at a cost of $200. For labor and materials.
After informing Sid & Me that the total amount I spent to repair the damage and move the furniture was $300, I was told that all they would offer is $100 and a refund of my $85 delivery charge.
I spent over $4100. For furniture (including a damaged armoire), delivery and repairs to damage inflicted upon my home by Sid & Me.
