We had purchaced a trailer from Oakwood Acceptance quite a few years ago. At the time we had no idea that they were as crooked as they are, if we had known that we would have never went that route. We were in an apartment, and had a few months to move, so we went to Oakwood.
We picked out a 14 by 80 trailer. We did the paperwork and they started looking for a piece of property to put it on, only they couldn't find any that would sell only rent; thats just what they did they put it on rental land that the owner said that when he was ready to sell, he would sell to us.
It took forever for it to get set up and we actually had to move into a hotel with 2 kids a dog and a bird. It was not cheap. We had to get a lawyer to speed up the process. We wanted them to pay the cost of the hotel, but we were just ready to move into our home, so when they declined on the payment but had our trailer ready, we moved in.
We were there about a year or more when the land onwner told us we had to one month to move, so we contacted Oakwood because we had the land put there because we were told that he would sell to us when he was ready. (Verbal agreement) as you know if its not on paper it dont mean anything.
They did nothing to help us in this situation, we were on our own. So We tried all we could in the short time frame we had. So we lost everything.
Now 3 years later we filed bankruptcy on this. Now its the 4th year, we are trying to buy a house. Oakwood has reported to Transunion that it was a forclosure, which of course its not because there was no land. Only a trailer.
Now all we need for our loan is them to sign a piece of paper stating that it was not a forclosure... Only a reposession.
Oakwood flat out refuses to sign anything, even though they are illegally reporting wrong infomation to make things difficult for us.
