Adams Stove Co.installed a St. Croix Pellet stove insert in 2008. From the start we had many problems and placed many phone calls to them. When they could not help us over the phone I had them come to the house to fix the stove.
As it turned out the stove was not installed properly and there was a manufacturing defect. The technition took the part to repair it but said there would be $100 charge for the service call. This was only about 3 mos. After purchase.
I need to say that the day of installation they had me sign a contract indicating that if they needed to come to the house for a service call it would be $100. Not thinking that this would mean they would charge w/in the first year let alone the first few months, let alone for something I did not cause.
They took me to court... They won! When I did not pay before the next court date (I thought I had to that date to pay and I went to pay it) they had already put a lien on my house! This brought my credit score down 100 pts.
I should also mention that when he was at my house he was bad mouthing other customers of his!
My thoughts are that they can PURPOSFULLY intall a stove incorrectly and then charge to come fix it. How stupid was I to sign that contract!!
