Sears Roebuck And Co
Repair Service, Do they ever carry parts, I think NOT

Cloths Washer. On Friday June 13 th I found that the washer was not working. We usually do our laundry on the weekend. Feeling an urgent need I called the 800 number for Sears repair. They said that a serviceman could be here between 10 am and noon and there is a $65.00 charge for showing up. I then receive a call that he was unable to make it until the afternoon.

I said Okay and then called into work and took the off. The repairman showed up at about 5 pm. And quickly found that the timer had gone bad. He showed me where the points were burnt. After searching his truck for a few minutes he informed me that he must have used he last spare yesterday and that he would need to order the part. He also stated that the new part should be here in about a week at which time I should call the 800 number and they would send him back out to install it.

Of course there would be additional labor and service call. Still feeling an urgent need I agreed. He had me write a check for the part and service to that date in the amount of about $182.

A week goes by (it's now June 19 th) and noting that the part had not arrived, I called the toll free number and was soon informed that the part would NOT ship until July 11 th. I told this nice young lady that I wished to cancel this order as three more weeks was out of the question. She said that I would have to call back that next day and talk to customer service. Next I went on line and put a stop payment on that check. The next day I called and talked to a fellow named Dennis and told him to cancel the whole thing. I called a local repair service and was able to get this part in two days then I installed it myself.

July 1 st at noon, I receive a call from Sears that my part had shipped yesterday. I told her that I had already canceled that order. She said that I should refuse it from UPS. On July 2 nd UPS delivered the package while I was at work. On July 3 rd I called UPS and they picked up the package to returned it.

July 14 th, I receive a form letter from Certegy Payment Recovery Services, Inc. 11601 Roosevelt Blvd. St. Petersburg, Florida 33716 (866) 595-67532

Wherein they state that they have paid Sears #8368 for my unpaid check and basically I now owe them. I answered the questions on the form including the reason the stop payment was ordered. I also stated that I would be happy to pay for service call.

August 1 st another form letter from Certegy Payment Recovery Services, Inc. Stating again that I owe them 182 dollars and again asking if I have a valid reason for the stopped payment order.

Once again I tell them that I am NOT required to pay for merchandise NOT received and that I will happily pay for the service call.

That has been the last letter up to date, however, I get nearly daily phone messages in a recorded female voice that starts with; "This is not a sales call" it ends with instructions to return the call at 800-247-8712 so they can undate my records. I'm not sure, but I think this is from Certegy Payment Recovery Services, Inc.

DO NOT call Sears to do a service call if your appliance is out of warranty. It's better to call your local repair person. Not sure how to get your Sears washer apart? Full instructions and trouble shooting help can be easily found on line. I suspect that they rarely carry parts as not having a part on hand would get them extra labor and service calls while not needing to invest in the stocking of parts.

Has anyone else had the same thing happen to them.

Had any dealings with Certegy Payment Recovery Services, Inc.? How did you come out?
