About a month ago I went to a Home Improvement Show and filled out a flyer for a chance to win $50,000 in home improvements from Direct Buy. Two weeks ago they called my cellphone claiming I was a step closer to winning and to come to their showroom in Edison, New Jersey. I received the key in the mail that I had to try on a door knob to see if I was the $50,000 winner. They called at least ten times within two weeks to constantly confirm if I was going to attend. I went to the showroom today, which they said there was no obligation for. After a 90 minute seminar about their products and the way the program works, I found out news I could not believe. They told me I then had 10 minutes to make a decision about whether or not I want to join for about $5,300. Not only was that the 10 minute decision, but if I left and did not pay that amount they said I would be blacklisted from every Direct Buy in the nation. After saying we did not have $5,300 or the $2,500 for the cheaper plan, they proceeded to tell us it was "too bad" and "our loss". Then the manager came over with a very rude attitude and said she felt sorry for us with a very sarcastic tone. I could not believe the poor service once you said you don't have the money. They treat you like dirt and as if they are above you and you are worthless. On the way out, they then watched from the window to see the car we drove. Absolutely unbelievable! I have never had such a problem because I didn't have $5,300 to blow. Once I got home I googled Direct Buy and saw many people have had similar situations and felt they were scamed or treated horribly. Stay away from this place.
