The case against this company is simple. There are only TWO MAIN POINTS to make here.
A brief overview, first. Border Energy is supposedly a supplier of natural gas for the Great Lake states of Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan, in the future. They solicit by telephone, and claim they can help dramatically reduce the spike of gas cost during the winter.
As I recall, after sign up, you do nothing else as they handle the switch. Their name appears on your utility bill as the supplier. And they have a relatively low cancellation fee of $55.00. You would pay this only if you switch prior to the 'initial period'.
Here are the problems. 1: I noticed no significant reduction in my bill.in fact, it seemed odd that they contacted me in late February/early March, the ending fringe of winter season. Why didn't anyone call around November of the previous year?
And 2: Their contact information seems bogus. I tried to email them today, with the email on their website with zero success. Got that reply of "Mailer-DAEMON", which basically means the email is bogus. So I wonder, why would a settled gas company have sloppy contact information?
They also list an 888 number and physical address. Only a recording answered the phone number, so I am suspicious of all the information. Is the physical address current, or accurate? Am not sure, will write to find out.
Anyhow, to those who read this, be wary of this gas company.
