Future Now Energy contacted me claiming that Duke Energy had contracted with them to give me a rebate for being a loyal customer. I asked a lot of questions and continued to get the same information. Why were they asking for my account number? Because they aren't Duke Energy, they have just been contracted by Duke to contact me. Lies. They are an alternative energy supplier through the Customer Choice Program. The phone number I was given, 1-877-685-9617 goes to a dead end voice mailbox. I called Duke Energy and they gave me a different number: 1-866-363-6427. There, I was subjected to a mild threat that I had agreed on recording to switch my provider (I didn't - it was read to me and didn't mention switching providers). Eventually, he agreed to cancel the switch. I informed Duke on-line that this happened. I also opted out of being on the list given to these creeps.
I will follow up if the cancellation goes through.
