I got short-circuited by Ford Electric

I contacted Ford Electric, "No Job To Big or To Small" as a repeat customer (last used 4 years ago) when the business was called Electric Pro. E.P. Is now reportedly out of business. Ford gave me an estimate of not more than $750 to wire 6 recessed lights in a ceiling and 2 wall outlets. Ford agreed to arrive the next day by 9:00 A.M. To complete the 3 hour job.

After calls the next day to Ford, he arrived about 1:00 P.M. Claimed he could finish the job by early afternoon. Ford commenced to chop up the ceiling and walls putting holes everywhere including the adjacent room. Ceiling and wall materials filled the room and the rest of the house was thick with dust. As a customer, I was forced to put down plastic on the floor and pick up debris. Ford insisted on playing heavy metal music very loud while banging away.

By 10:00 P.M. Ford declared that he was finished. The dimmer switch did not work and wires hung free in the basement as well as junction boxes were left hanging from the ceiling. Reluctantly, he replaced the dimmer switch but complained that I was getting a higher quality switch than warranted. Ford claimed that it cost too much for this job. He did not secure the hanging wires and junction boxes. I need to contact another electrician to finish the job and render my home safe.

Final price, almost $250 higher than original quoted price. Ford commented many times that we were getting a great deal. He overcharged us for the electrical materials. Some materials were taken from other jobs or left-over from other work according to his statements.

Ford left a mess in the work area and basement forcing me to fill more than 10 bags of materials and contemplate professional cleaning services. It appeared that Ford ruined my wall-to-wall carpet and I must now contract a carpenter to repair the damage Ford did while installing the ceiling lights.

My wife and I are very disappointed with Ford's work, his questionable billing practice, the operation of the ceiling lights and the mess he left.

As a final chapter to this negative experience, Ford left us a lawn sign advertising his company along with about 50 business cards.

By the way, "No Job To Big or To Small" is poor and inappropriate use of the English language.
