Priced higher than manufacturer's and other major store and then advertised for "virtual" special and discounts - misleading and irresponsible headquarter response!
Black Friday, Macy's had a kitchenware advertised for 40% off. I bought one.
The story even gets better. $399.99 was Macy's claimed original price. I bought it and later found the same model, same UPC, same product in different store including manufacturer's website listed at $299.99 (no discounted price). Macy's have products inflated. I expressed my concern to Macy's where I bought it. They told me was that is what Macy's sells for. I subsequently called the executive office, Darlene answered the call and said similar excuse, in addition, gave example of Martha Stewart products that are contracted with Macy's. Unfortunately the blender I bought list $399.99 is NOT special products that Macy's contract with M. Stewart. Darlene from Macy's executive office challenged me "How do you know that we do not have it with them"... Simple, MACY'S never branded the company in question with Macy's, nor advertised or have a special section like Stewart and much more! She is trying to question consumer intelligence.
I expressed my further serious concern to her of their pricing policy after knowing her excuse and UNWILLINGNESS to investigate. A total loss of confidence as a consumer and moreover, I will not trust the name "Macy's" any longer. Consumers should know!
After I told Darlene in head office that I will be posting and contacting authorities to investigate, she finally STOP telling me the above excuses of Stewart (special agreement) told me at the end, she has no idea about Macy's pricing or agreement with manufacturer's...
Please investigate to protect consumer. You can go to online stores, retail stores... So far, I have not found any store list the same item for $399.99 but $299.99. What is Macy's excuse?
Please protect consumer from FALSE advertisement and price gouging...
I do not trust Macy's claimed original prices any longer. This is NOT clothing, but kitchen electrical appliance - how can so far, Macy's is the only one with a $100 difference for a small kitchen electric appliance???
In this economy... This is NOT RIGHT. Especially, after being brought to their local store to executive office level...
