Purchased LG Bottom Freezer 9/17/07 from Home Depot. Fridge doesn't get cold, ice maker doesn't work. Freezer part works fine. Sunday was easter, so waited till Monday. My mistake. It's still under LG manufacturer warranty, so they contacted local company to service. Local contracted service company refuses to service saying my home is outside of their service area. I live on an island.
Call LG back for alternate service provider, they said I had to wait 3 days. Today is day 3- as I was told the date of the initial phone call does not count as a day.
I found a company on my own who does LG warranty work and will drive to my area. LG will not give the company authorization to proceed. They said I have to wait another 3 days because the initial complaint only just happened -so, the guy I've been begging to come out now thinks I made up the whole thing. So, I call LG back again for a manager, nice guy, but unable to authorize the service man to come to my house sighting he has no control over contracts.
At this rate it will be 8 days with no refrigerator before an appliance serviceman will even talk to me, let alone pick a date to look at the appliance. This is apparently standard procedure for LG. LG customer Service was indifferent to the hardship this placed with toddlers and adults refrigerated medicines.
Home Depot won't take the fridge back as it's 6 months old and I can't get service on it. I want to return the refrigerator and get a refund so I can buy a refrigerator that actually works from a company who will come to my area to service it, if needed.
I don't know what to do at this point.
