I was looking to purchase an antique bedroom set. I came across this company while surfing the internet. They looked pretty ligitimate, they even listed pictures of the antique furnature they had for sale, and the prices seemed to be resonable, so I called this organization over the phone to inquire about the set, I spoke to the manager named Dwayne Karcher. Mr Karcher stated the 7 piece Burl wood italian bedroom set was available, and could be purchased for $3,500.00 and that he would require a deposit of $900.00 to hold the set. He stated the set was not in the United States, and that it was overseas, and it would take 6 to 12 months for him to acquire the set because it would have to go through customs approval and this process would take some time to accomplish. He stated because of this process I would have to pay him $900.00 to hold the set, and he would notify me to arrange delivery once he received the set in his warehouse. He stated he would apply the $900.00 deposit towards the purchase price of the bedroom set. I went along with this arrangement, and he sounded so nice over the phone, and I really liked the photograghs of the set, and really looked forward to having it, so I sent him the $900.00 deposit via federal express next day service. After sending him this money, I called the next day to confirm he received it. He confirmed receipt of the funds and stated he anticipated receiving the set in his possession within a 6 to 12 month period. To make a long story short I called him once every 3 months to inquire about the set, and this went on for almost a year. Within this time period Mr Karcher called me once, and never made any efforts to call me again. I called him to inquire about the bedroom set and it was very difficult to reach him. I called him multiple times, and he took his time returning my call, then finally he answered the phone one day, and I told him I had been trying to reach him to arrange delivery of my bedroom set. He stated that since gas prices had gone up, he had to charge me more than the $200 delivery fee, we had originally discussed. He stated his fee for delivery of my bedroom set, $650.00 or it may be more depending on how much gas his drivers burns to get the set to Maryland. I explained I felt this cost was unreasonable, because lets face it the set was in the U.S., and not overseas. I told him I would give him a call back next week to further discuss the matter. The next time I spoke with him, he said he did'nt have the bedroom set anymore, that he sold it too someone else. I asked him why would he do such a thing? And he stated "A long length of time had gone by, and he did'nt know if I was going to still get the set or not, so he sold it to another buyer. My response was " I don't understand why you would feel this way when you have my $900.00 deposit." Instead of arguing with him over this, I just said " Whatever when can I expect to receive my deposit back." He then stated he was not going to refund my money because since I did'nt get the set, he would retain my deposit, and it would serve as a restocking fee. I explained to him what happened was a result of his error and not mine. I PLEADED with him to give me back my money, but he refussed. I filed complaint with the better business bureau, and to no avail, to date I have not received my money and I 'm sure this organization is ripping someone else off.
