We had lived in a 2 bedroom home rented out by Colonial Rental from June to June.
In the month of January the roof started to bubble above our master bedroom closet, we told them about this and they said they would contact the owner of the property. We called them many times about this, and I finally stopped calling in May because we were buying a house and were to be moving out in June.
After we moved out, they gave us a written statement that said they will either give us our security deposit of 400.00 back or give us a bill with-in 30 days. After the 30 days (july 30) I called them about the security deposit and they said they would have someone go out to the property to do the walk through and get back with us.
3 weeks went by and we still had not heard from them, i called them everyday that week and i kept getting the run around, i was either passed onto someone else or a "note" was written for the person dealing with the property.
It had then been 2 months since the 30 day period, so i contacted the Texas Apartment Association about the delima.
In the contract it is stated that if the money is not refunded or a bill is not given with-in 30 days, all of the deposit is to be refunded regardless.
2 weeks after i contacted the assocaition i recieved a check for 390.00 instead of the 400.00 they charged me 10.00 for light bulbs. Since i had received my deposit i just let it go.
