In May of I purchased a dresser & a chest of drawers from Bedroom Superstore in San Diego. The salesman told me that the chest of drawers was in the warehouse, but that the dresser would have to be ordered from Italy and would be available in 5 weeks. I made arrangements to pick up the chest, as it will fit in my trunk. I made a cash deposit on both pieces of furniture — the balance to be paid upon receipt of the furniture.
When I went to pick up the chest, I was told that the dresser was available for pick up, not the chest. The problem is the dresser will not fit in my trunk. After much fussing, the Superstore agreed to deliver the dresser free of charge for the mix-up, which they blamed on my misunderstanding. I paid the balance for the dresser and received it with no further problems regarding that part of the transaction.
After 5 weeks, I called to see if the chest of drawers was in and was told that it would be another 5 weeks. Another 5 weeks went by and I was told that by mistake, my chest of drawers was given to another customer and they would call me when it came in. No call came so I called periodically, each time receiving an excuse that it was not in yet.in October, I was told that my order had been cancelled due to account non-activity. They explained that if there were no payments made on a layaway, that the order would be cancelled. Outraged, I explained that the money given to them was a "good faith" deposit — a promise that I would pay the balance in return for the chest when it came to their warehouse. They do not return my calls or answer my letters and to date (February), the Bedroom Superstore has refused to return my deposit or make available my furniture.
