My husband and I have only been married a little over a year and the apartment he was in was too small and cramped for us so we decided to buy a house. We were having trouble finding the right house for us so we contacted a realtor in the next town to see if he might have something there for us. He was a very nice man, Hank Craft, he showed us a couple of houses in the town he lived in but we decided we wanted to stay in the town we are in. So, we looked at the house we ended up buying, it was listed buy Forman Mader. Hank said that would not be a problem, they could get us the house. We signed the contract on July 21st. Every thing was great. We were supposed to close on August 20th. But during that time there were things that needed to be done and Mr. Mader made sure that nothing got done until the very last minute. There were several times during that month that we were not sure we would even get the house. We had already given notice at our apartment so we would have no home as it was looking. Our closing date was moved twice. The house needed more insulation and a new roof. We discovered that the house was unable to be insured with the roof as it was. He wanted us to pay for half of the roof. Anyway, we finally came to an agreement and the roof was put on the week we finally moved in. All was well and good. Or so we thought. The very next weekend after we moved in it rained all day on saturday. I walked into the master bedroom for something and the water in the floor was so deep that it squished up between my toes. I was horrified. We had only been there a week and had this to deal with. No one told us anything about the foundation leaking.
Also there were several other smaller things that were not in working order that we discovered in the days to come. So here we are in a house that we had to go thru unnecessary turmoil to get only to find out it is a real lemon and we now have to deal with it all on our own. We are not young people and I am disabled so we don't have the kind of money it will take to fix everything that needs to be fixed.
Anyone in this area that has any dealings with Mr. Mader should be very careful.
