Inadequate Home inspection

On December 8, I had Total Home Inspection do a whole house inspection on the house I was interested in buying. The biggest concerns I had were the furnace and the roof.

The age of the roof was (and is) unknown. It was given a good review, a note was added that there was signs of a leak in the roof, but no new signs were given.in March water was entering my house through the roof. Total Home was contacted, and the inspector came out and told me that the problem was an easy fix and I proceded to fix it.

No explanation was given on why he did not see it the first time. My concern then was that I would not have bought the house knowing that the roof was leaking. Past leaks are fine, if fixed.

Now I am selling the house and the buyers had a furnace inspection done on March 22 (15 months after Total Home inspected). I need to replace the furnace. I looked at the inspection from December 8, and all it said was the motor was loose and needed servicing by a certified company. The new inspection indicated that the furnace has been bad for a long time, long enough that some of the furnace has rusted all the way though the metal. Rough estimates were a couple of years.

These inspectors are, in my opinion, are nothing but scam artists. I was ripped off on my the money used for the inspections, now I'm getting ripped off with having to put money into a roof and furnace. I am going to be losing a lot of money on the sale of this house due to these two items. I am disgusted.
