U s land mortgage sold us a 1999 doublewide on 3/4acre of land as is, they apparently told us that it was little things that needed to be done. Which he showed us. 2 months after moving into the house a big storm came through a tree limb put a hole in our roof. We called our insurance company, they came out sent us a check for the repair this was in less than two days. We were told that we had to sign the check bring it to them to sign the check then they would put in escrow so we could get the repairs on the house. They sent out a contractor to give us an estimate, which was 2,500, we got another estimate for 1,800. They would not release our money to buy the supplies we needed to have the house fixed.
We lived in this house with a black tarp covering the hole in our house for a month and a half. Our light bill was running us 400 a month because of the hole, until my husband went to the office and talked to the big boss himself, and told him what was going on. My husband told him either the release our insurance money or he was going to move out right then. The owner had them cut us a check for $700 to get the supplies we needed to get the roof fixed. We also had our air go out, had to buy a room unit, my husband and i and our 3 kids then, i was pregnant with the 4th slept in one room with the air condition so we would not sweat to death, another problem with our insurance claim, then they had somebody who would do it.
We also had a third claim, another tree limb falling in our roof top, that caused major damage. The contractor sent them an estimate of the damages which they said they needed. They ended up cutting a check to him instead of a check to us for buying the supplies to fix the roof stating that they thought it was an invoice. And we had to send them copies this time of the receipts of everything we bought. Money we were suppose to use towards bills, but we didn't want to sit in a house for another month and a half like last time with a hole in the ceiling. We later found out that they charged us $800 for a water set up fee, when there was water already set up on the property.
We have been paying $1122 a month for this home, and had the appraisal district tell us that our home and land is not worth more than 60,000, and we were charged 123,000, we paid 3,000 down payment, we had 11,200 dropped off after we made on time payments for a year, which left us 109,600 still left after that year. And we referred people to them, which makes me feel bad, because their selling tatics is not right. We wanted a house to raise our kids in, and got a buying home nightmare, and we will be another foreclosure statistic unless we can do a short sale, or we may have to file for bankruptcy.
