Loom Craft
Is a negligent & deceptive ripoff company

Warranty damage ceramic tile carpet flooring... I hired Loom Craft to replace my ceramic tile hearth and to extend the hearth to the back door next to the fireplace. The written contract explicitly required that they install 55 square feet of Mohawk Saxa Bianco with Moonstone-colored grout. While removing the existing tile hearth, the installer hit the fireplace with his hammer, snapping the fireplace tile and causing a corner piece to break off. He said that the store would find a replacement tile and replace the tile. (Loom Craft first asked me to pay $250 them to fix their installer's negligence, but 2 months later they want $300). The installed cut the existing carpet to install and ceramic tile behind the backdoor and took out all of the existing tack bars. The installer claimed this could be easily fixed and that my salesman, Nick Stegent, would arrive the next day, Monday to re-tack the carpet. Two months later Loom Craft still hasn't re-tacked the carpet, even after I promised Nick Stengent I would pay AND they sent an installer named "Sparky" to actually re-install the carpet. "Sparky" couldn't because he was told he didn't need tack bars! And because there is still exposed concrete where the tile installation is too short... The installer cut the tile short - the entire installation does not consist of 55 square feet and is actually 2 to 3 inches short, resulting in exposed concrete. The installer claimed that this could be easily fixed and would be by Loom Craft. As stated Sparky, a Loom Craft employee explicitly said the carpet could not be fixed. Loom Craft will happily finish the promised 55 square foot tile installation - if I pay for more tile. I didn't even get the 55 square feet I had already paid for. As various contractors came in and provided estimated other problems - and the extreme expense of fixing this installation - became apparent.-The edges are jagged and must be replaced (it's porcelain so sanding is a bad idea).-There are no expansion joints. Whenever tile meets another surface, there should be a 1/8" to 1/4" inch gap filled with caulk. Some of the tiles are up against the baseboard and all of the remaining joints between the wall/fireplace and tile contain grout instead of caulk.-The installer used white grout instead of the Moonstone grout explicitly stated in the written and signed contract with Loom Craft.-The installation is not square. The edge tiles all vary by a 1/2" inch in size.-The installation is not level. I've written a complaint to the Houston BBB, only to find out the BBB was already revoking their membership. It seems Loom Craft didn't pay a small claims judgment against them 12 years ago and has no intention of ever paying. I've written 2 certified return receipt letters demanding Loom Craft fix the problems - the second threatened litigation in small claims court. I then send a third letter FedEx with the estimated bill for repairing the fireplace (labor only), a refund for Loom Craft's botched tile job, and the estimated cost of removing the tile. Loom Craft sent it's first written letter to me ever threatening to file a countersuit if I sue them. I'm not sure if I'll sue because Loom Craft hasn't paid it's property taxes in 8 years and currently facing foreclosure by the county.in the meantime, this store is still open and taking people's money.
