We bought a house and bought an American Home Warranty plan.in 6 months the water heater died and we called the company to have it replaced.in a 4 million metro area they only have one repair approved company and we had no hot water for a week waiting on the repair man.
That is where the fun starts. American will pay $300 for a new heater but the heater and installation from these people was $600 plus new pressure relief valve and expansion tank. Even $40 for a brick so the new heater would be off the ground. Total cost $1070 less the $300 $770. Gave the go ahead as we were desperate for hot water. Later found out from another plumber we hired for other work, the installation should have been about $600. So much for a warranty!!
