I purchased a new alarm system on 10/13/03 for $889.00 which included 3 years of monitoring. On 11/15 I received a bill for $27.99 for monthly monitoring because my 3 years was up. I phoned Safe Touch and informed them that I was interested in getting a new system but until I could set an appointment with a sales person please discontinue the monthly monitoring. She asked me to send in a letter which I did. On 11/21/06 I when I got home I could not turn off my alarm system, when I entered a loud beep noise sounded. This is normal notifying us that the alarm is on and to enter in our code to turn off. When I entered in my code the beeps did not stop. The noise continued for approx. 30 seconds. Every time we open the door you hear these beeps and there is no way to turn off. I called Safe Touch on 11/21 and spoke to Amanda, she informed me that since I was no longer a customer there is no way to help me, I asked for a manager and after 5 minutes on hold she informed me that I could not get to a supervisor because I was not a customer. I just wanted them to tell me how to stop the beeps when I enter or exit. I spoke to Bill Sutton on 11/22/06, he is the person who originally sold us the system. He informed me that when you are no longer customers the company sends a signal to the house to make the system inactive.
I purchased an alarm system and just because I no longer want the monitoring the system should work. Ie, chimes when I enter or exit, alarm should sound if someone enters my home and does not enter the code.
I spent $889 on an alarm system that included monitoring, the alarm system should still work just not alert the authorities when alarm sounds.
