Protection One advertises and charges for monitoring the home alarm system. However, they do not not alert if the system goes offline telephone wire disabled by burglar. After my house was robbed, I called and asked why their system did not alert me. They responded that it was the duty of the customer to check that the system is functional. They recommend that the customer do this once a week. I.E., every week the customer must call in to test the system with Protection One.
Of course, even a fully functional system will not trip any alarms if the phone wire is cut. Protection One advertises that they monitor the alarm system. This is false advertising.
