Tamir Pinhas. Owner/Contractor They sold me a top of the line sunroom and installed a low end model. They used unsupervised and unskilled labor instead of journeyman tradespersons resulting in grossly grossly sub-standard workmanship. Ripoff

I allege that Preferred Home Builders, Tamir Pinhas, and his Salesman sold me a top of the line Sunroom but installed a low-end model. When I brought this to Mr. Pinhas' attention, he repeatedly made false statements in an attempt to convince me that there was no real difference between the two models.

Subsequent conversations with the manufacturer revealed that the difference between the two models is very significant and that Mr. Pinhas' statements were absolutely false. Mr. Pinhas, made many unsuccessful attempts to intimidate me into accepting the inferior model sunroom by lying, yelling at me and insulting my integrity. When he realized that I would not be intimidated, he ultimately agreed to bring the sunroom up to the same level of quality and features as the sunroom they actually sold me. He then went back on that promise, abandoning the job.

In the course of installing the sunroom, Mr. Pinhas repeatedly employed unsupervised unskilled and/or poorly skilled labor resulting in sub-standard workmanship.

His workmen removed a brand new outside slider from my house, which was not part their scope of work, and have declined to replace it, leaving an ugly, unfinished raw opening in the rear of my house.

Mr. Pinhas assigned a Project Manager to my project that repeatedly failed to keep her promises and quite frequently demonstrated that she had little of no knowledge of construction, scheduling, or the materials used on this project.

Preferred has failed to correct the sub-standard workmanship in the sunroom and it literally floods when it rains.

The cement slab they poured for the sunroom was done so amateurishly that it drains towards the sunroom, instead of away. They splashed cement all over my new stucco and failed to clean it off immediately. When, several days later, they finally attempted to remove the splashed cement (which had already set up) they broke the stucco away in many places in the process.

They cut the eaves of my house back too far for the sunroom, leaving a 5 foot stretch over a bedroom window without an eave, then made me fight with them to correct the error. When they did correct it the work was so amateurish as to be completely unacceptable.

The exterior tile work was so poorly installed that their own workman broke it when he stepped on it.

They failed to complete the grout work on the new tile they installed in the interior.

After marking the location of switch boxes on the wall with a thick black marker, they failed to seal and prime over the marks before painting and the marks have all burned through the paint. They also slopped paint on adjacent walls, floors, and ceiling.instead of removing switch plates and doorknobs before painting, they left them in place and slopped paint over them.

Instead of cleaning up their construction debris daily, as promised, they piled weeks of debris on top of my planters, destroying the plants.

In an effort to have me make final payment on this project, Mr. Pinhas and the Project Manager swore time after time that they had received the final sign-off on my project from the inspector and that they would mail it to me. This was in response to my refusing (based upon their history) to make the payment until I had documentation that the job had been approved and signed off by the Building Inspector.

I foolishly made the final payment, based upon their word, only to discover that they had lied and that they had never even requested a final inspection on my sunroom and had their first request for a final inspection on my kitchen remodel denied by the Inspector because it did not meet code. I finally applied for the final inspections my self, met the inspector at the site, and ultimately did receive the sign-off. But, only after explaining my plight to him and promising to make the necessary corrections myself.

I have filed a formal complaint with the California Contractors License Board and the BBB, and may be commencing civil suit in the near future.

I invite any other customers of Preferred Home Builders, Inc. Who have had negative experiences with this contractor to contact me to explore joining forces in a possible civil and/or criminal action.
