My wife and I went to Conn's to get a over-the-range microwave and have it installed. We scheduled an install date and the installers finally arrived, late, only to drill holes into our cabinets and then turn around and say they could not install the microwave because the cabinets would not support it.
The solid wood kitchen cabinets are perfectly stable and have no damage to them what-so-ever exclusing the holes drilled by the Conn's installers which can be seen from the dining room. I truly don't understand why they could not install it. These are rugged, solid cabinets.
After I had to take the microwave and return it to the store in my own car, they continued to charge us for the delivery fee because, as they put it, they DID deliver it! I asked about the damage (the new holes) in my cabinets and they said they didn't know anything about it. I explained that I was telling them about it now and they said I should file a complaint. I told them that is what I thought I was doing at that time!
I spoke to the manager of the store who managed to convince me to let the installers try again... Two more times. After taking the microwave back to the store in my own car, two more times, I insisted they simply refund the cost of the microwave and all related charges. They insisted on charging me the delivery fee.
This has been going on for seven months. Despite having filed several complaints and telling their collection agents to cease and desist, they continue to harrass me. They have placed this on my credit report despite it being in dispute status.
They have collectors call me at work and chant "Pay your bill! Pay your bill!"
I finally paid the bill and brought it current last week. I know it will take months to get this off my credit.
I spoke to dozens of people in the Conn's corporation in the past few months. Each one of them had my account in front of them but acted like they knew nothing of my situation.
After paying my bill just to keep them from harrassing me and ruining my credit, they finally sent someone out to my house... On mother's day... To look into the damage. The two Conn's employees were wharehouse employees and confused as to why they were even there.
They arrived just as I brought my wife out to see the edging along the sidewalk I had been working on all day to surprise her for Mother's Day. The moment was ruined by these two uncaring jerks who showed up, laughing about our situation.
They left two minutes later because, after complaining that they didn't know why they had been sent out, I tried to explain the problem to them and they felt I was COMPLAINING to them so they left.
Well, YES, I had a COMPLAINT! That is why they were sent out!
Anyway, please do not do business with Conn's. They are rude, insensative imbecils who live up to the sound of theit corporate name: CONS!
