On 2/21, my husband and I purchased a Maytag washer machine from HH Gregg in Douglasville, Georgia. We purchased the unit because the salesman assured us it was the top of the line. The salesman also sold us a warranty for the unit. Shame on us for not reading the receipt until now, but considering that I had to what for 45 minutes for the salesman to DOWNLOAD the instruction manual, I took the mans word. After all, I paid for the warranty.
Well, imagine my surprise when not even 13 months later, the washing machine stops working. I call HH Gregg, and imagine again my surpirse to find they no longer service their applicances, they will be happy to give me Maytag's number. I call Maytag, who AGAIN, imagine my surprise, tells me that the machine is not covered under warranty. 1st they have the wrong date of purchase, Maytag has it listed a 12.2nd even if they date is wrong it is over 366 days since the unit was purchased.
If I disagree, call HH Gregg. I AGAIN, call HH Gregg. I asked to speak with a manager. The young lady named Jasmine, asked if she can help me. I explained the situation. She agrees I might need a manger and covers the phone with her hand and tries to speak with a manager. I overheard someone tell ehr to tell me they are with a customer, can either Tom or Josh call me back shortly? I say that will be fine. 3 hours later, I'm still waiting.
I call back and Jasmine answers again, I explain who I am and she puts me on hold. Josh gets on the phone. I explain the situation, I have 2 boys and need to get my washer machine fixed ASAP, does he think he can help me out because 1st Maytag says they can not send anyone for 8 days, second they say it's not covered under warranty. He says " Let me look it up real quick." Comes back and tells me I have a " 10 YEAR MAJOR COMPONET ONLY" warranty.
I explain what the unit is doing, he says it COULD be the transmission (as my husband guessed it was) but that he would rather have a service representative call me back. I tell him fine, but I HAVE to know something today. If they can not figure out what is wrong with the unit today or tommorrow, do you think it would be POSSIBLE to maybe get credit for the unit toward the purchase of another unit.
Josh comes back with a " I'll have to call our dealer and see what they say, but I kind of doubt it." I'll call you tommorrow. Needless to say it's a good thing I didn't hold my breath. Josh never called back. To make a long story shorter, HH Gregg DOES have a representative named Jerimah who DOES seem to keep his word. He is the FIRST person from that company who I've talked with who was honest.
What I'm DISCUSSED with is that HH Gregg sold me a WORTHLESS warranty. I, as most people, would assume that, eventhough it is my fault that I did not check this warranty out more closely, that when a tech comes to your home FINALLY and tells you that the problem with the unit is that it needs news TRANSMISSION BEARINGS and SEALS that a TRANSMISSION is a MAJOR COMPONET. WRONG! In a washer machine, the ONLY MAJOR COMPONET is the MOTOR! Nothing ELSE!
And to top it ALL off, that the warranty the idiot salesman sold me, runs in congruently with the warranty the manufacturer offers. Maytag GIVES the MOTOR a 5 year warranty with the unit. That means that you ONLY have an ADDITIONAL 5 years worth of useless warranty with HHGregg. MOST extended warranties start AFTER the manufacturer warranty expires.
NOT A WARRANTY from HH Gregg! So beware! READ your FINE print! Hh gregg's warranty runs with the manufacturer's warranty, not after - like almost every other extended warranty— thus the word extended! It's hard to accept that BOTH Maytag and HH Gregg would screw over thier customers, that niether wants to stand behind thier products, but here I am, living proof. I've learned a lesson, READ EVERYTHING - TRUST NO ONE!!!
