Sears: Stupid again! LABOR CHARGE RIP-OFF
I have a Kenmore microwave that is less than 5 years old. The magnatron has a 5 year warranty. The magnatron smoked (literally). I called Sears for a replacement magnatron. First they advised that if I worked on it it would void the warranty. I informed her of the Federal Magnusun-Moss warranty act that expressly prohibits statements exactly like hers. After being on hold for a couple of minutes... She admitted that I was completely correct. 1st problem solved (or so I thought) Next I tried to get the replacement magnatron ordered. She wouldn't order the part because it required (at a large labor cost, of course) an "Authorized" service center to replace the simple part. It didn't seem to matter to her that I was an Electronics Tech in the military, currently am a licensed electrical contractor and a Senior Electronics Tech for the State of California. Never mind the fact that I worked on, repaired, rebuilt and aligned mega-watt military radar units that were big enough to walk into.
SEARS: Just admit you're more interested in the money from labor than customer satisfaction. There is NO way that your moronic "Authorized Techs" are more qualified than me to do the repair. I've worked on equipment that to this day is classified, and STILL doesn't exist.
Sign me: disgusted with sears (lack of) customer service
