I purchased a new home from Maplecrest Construction in late September. I have had nothing but problems with the property since then. Joe Contarino is the developer. Recently, members of The Chicago Regional Coucil of Carpenters have been picketing the development I live in. They are in a labor dispute over Joe Contarino's use of non-union carpenters, and poor quality of construction.
Here are some of the issues that I have with a new Joe Contarino home:
1. Poor grading resulting in flooding in the basement.
2.5 major cracks in the foudation walls.
3. Basement floor separated from the foundation walls.
4. Garage floor major spiderweb cracking.
5. Roof leaking.
6. Poor insulation, home very drafty.
7. Multiple cracking on the interior drywall.
8. Multiple leaks in the plumbing.
9. Developer does not install sump pump (code violation).
These problems SHOULD NOT happen with new construction! This just proves that Mr. Contarino uses cheap material, short-cuts, and non-union labor to build his homes.
Buyer beware!
