A weld on the lower handle bar of my elliptical broke. Since I purchased the home protection plan for about $65, I was sure that getting it fixed would be a breeze. I was dead wrong. When I called the protection plan number, I was told that the earliest date to have it repaired would be June 25th. This date is was over a month away. I asked if they could just send me the part. They said no. I said that I could easily put the part on myself, since I assembled the machine myself. They still refused. I called back the next day to see if maybe speaking to a different associate would help. I was transferred to the parts department. The young lady assured me that a part would be shipped out to my home no later than June 3rd. That was not true. It's June 5th and I have no part and a repair date of June 25th. It is absurd that I have to wait so long for something so simple. I do not believe that there is not one single qualified repair reprensentative in my area that cannot replace the part before June 25th when the only tools needed are a couple of wrenches. I am so angry with Sears. I was on a specific schedule and exercise plan that is now disrupted not only because of the defective product I purchased from them, but also their unwillingness to bend and send me a part, which costs less than the protection plan. I keep reading how Sears my be headed into oblivion and customer service like this is likely the main reason. I plan to make it my mission to never spend another dime of my hard earned money or another second of my valuable time in Sears. I will cancel my Sears credit card. I have never been so disappointed in a company in my life.
