Serpentine belt broke 2 months ago on my 2007 Nissan Maxima. Had it towed to Firestone. The car was repaired and ready the next day. Went to pick the car up and black grease was on the seat, steering wheel, door panel etc etc. They scrubbed the grease off and gave me a free oil change. Fast forward 2 months and my family and I are returning from a trip for Thanksgiving weekend. 1 hour into the trip the serpentine belt breaks again. We were stranded on the side of the interstate 6 hours from home. We contacted Firestone to see if the belt was under warranty and they said it was. We needed assistance finding a tow truck because we had no clue where we were and who to call. After waiting 45 minutes on the interstate we get hauled to the nearest Firestone in Florence SC. We were told on the phone that it was a repair that would be fixed within 2 hours. So 5 minutes before closing they tell us that the tensioner pulley was missing along with the bolt that holds the pulley on AND the serpetine belt. This was all due to the initail repair not being done CORRECTLY. Some genius didn't tighten the bolt that holds the pulley on. The repair required dealer parts that they couldn't get on a Sunday. So we were given 2 options... Be put up in a ghetto hotel in a ghetto town and cross our fingers that our car would be repaired the next day or get a rental and drive home and come back for our car when it was ready. My son had school the next day and I had to work so the rental car was our only option. Another hour passes and the little guy shows up with the rental. We unload our car and load the rental only to have to drive the rental man 20 minutes back down the road to the airport. So 5 hours after we initially break down we are on the road again. 2 days later my car is still 6 hours away from me in Florence SC. Although Firestone recognized that this was due to their faulty work and covered the new repair, I did not feel I should take another 12 hours of my time to drive back down to get my car and back home again. Alas they are sending their own tech down to get my car and return it to me but not before giving some sorry speech about how this isn't something they normally do. Well I would hope that doing a half a#$ repair that results in someone's car breaking down 6 hours from home isn't something that needs to be dealt with on a regular basis. So yes I would probably agree with them that this isn't something they normally do. But do I think at the very least you owed that to me... Absofreakinglutely. For me this was the final straw in a long line of disappointments courtesy of Firestone. Will not use or recommend them again.
