Right Toyota
Ripoff dishonest sales tactics bait and switch

Reference ripoff report: http://usacomplaints.com/Auto-Dealers/Right-Toyota/right-toyota-ripoff-scottsdale-A9W6D.htm

This sounds very much like I was treated. I went in for an oil change, had no intention to buy a car but decided to look around while waiting.

I had wanted to buy an Echo but found that they no longer make the Echo. They are now selling the Scion xA instead.

I was introduced to a 'very nice' salesman by one of the sales managers. This nice young salesman going to help me and let me test drive the car.

I must say, I did love the little thing. I did want to buy it. BUT I could have waited until it became availabe to the the general public.

Turns out, I ended being treated the same way as the gentleman in the above referenced report - 5 hours of being kept waiting and playing a numbers game.

After a lot of haggling, they had a piece of paper in front of me promising me that I could walk out of there with a Scion xA for 13,100 dollars. I had initially agreed to $13,000 but gave in to another $100. They kept playing the numbers game. The sales manger started to badger me and I decided I had enough.

I got tired of their numbers game. It was now 5 hrs later and I was tired, thirsty, hungry - I went to walk out.

My salesman came running after me and said, yes, I can buy the Scion for 13,100 dollars. I felt this was a good deal because it was less than I had expected to pay.

Another wait while the paper work was being drawn up. I went in to the financial manager's office and got ready to sign the contract and noticed that the price had suddenly jumped to $15,400. I thought it was a little strange but not being very smart (obviously) I thought this was due to the tax, delivery charges, etc.

I wanted to leave. I signed. I left.

When I got home, eaten something, drank some water and had a chance to review the paper work, I felt that I had really allowed myself to be taken. I tried to calm down. I waited a month before I wrote a letter to Dave Wilson (owner of Right Toyota). Mr Wilson had the manager at Right Toyota call me and talk to me. I went to meet him and we spoke. NOT ONCE did he apologize for the bait and switch. He kept saying I got a good deal and it is a matter of perception. And I kept saying that they did not keep their word. They had promised me a car for $13,100 and they found a way to charge another $2,400.

And yes, that piece of paper disappeared in my case also.

I am a very honest person and so I thought I was getting that same kind of honesty back.

I suggest you count your fingers after shaking hands in there.

I will never go back to Right to buy a car. I will never send any of my friends there to buy a car. I will tell everyone of my horrible experience and steer them to another dealer.

I have since had my little Scion totaled because of a car that rear-ended me at a high rate of speed.

I went to Tucson to buy another car.

I am from Chicago, originally, and would have gone back to Chicago to buy a Toyota. But never again to Right Toyota.

Right Toyota salesmen sell cars like the slick 'used car' salesman of the '50s.

My suggestion is to stay away from Right Toyota.

If you don't want to do that; then bring food, water and a strong constitution. It's the only way to stay alive in that snake pit.
