Car City Supercenter
Where not to buy a vehicle from

Car City Supercenter in Cadillac, MI, is the worst place to think about when buying a vehicle. The $39 down is absolutely false advertisement, we spent over $500 down. Our story begins with two salesmen who were fired after selling us this 2000 Dodge Durango at 97,000 miles. We were told the guy who sucked us into a 48 month lease left for vacation and never came back. We have spent over $1000 in auto-repair bills! (security box, steering pump-broken 3 times, left wheel baring, new fuel pump, transmission rear-seal, and just recently a whole new radiator.)

Are truck payment is $338 plus the $99 collision waiver, so we are spending $458 a month, plus the repairs. The collision waiver sounded good at the time when you are low income and full coverage is too expensive. Car City's warranty requires $100 down for repairs when it is accepted under "their policy". Also, they choose an auto repair place for you. The Muffler Man in Cadillac, messed up three times fixing our steering pump, so that's $300 we spent. Car City does not offer you to extend your warranty when it is up either.

They also keep your title and the Secretary of State cannot locate your title because Car City purposely holds onto it. We have argued our way to a head manager at the Grand Rapids headquarters to help us get into a newer vehicle this August. However, our results were, you cannot return your vehicle after two years to get a new one, they require you to refinance your vehicle. That is the "program" which you fall for, thinking you can take your vehicle back after paying on it for two years.

We are stuck paying for this "lemon" with $8,000 left to pay on it and the blue book value is under $6,000. We do not know what else to do, we cannot afford to refinance and purchase a new home by next year. Once we have paid off this truck we would have paid over $17,000 for a 2000 Durango!!! No joke! I have bought a car once in my life from Chrysler and I did not get screwed over as bad as I did with Car City. Our only choice is to get full coverage to knock off the $99 collision waiver to lighten our payments and pay this "lemon" off to a price were a reputable car dealership will take it in.
