Refused to honor policy when Cadillac Dealership submitted payment request to repair transmission. Customer informed that they were under new managment and length of time to own policy had changed from 30 days to 60 days, before paying out for a repai

On 10/8/07 I bought my auto warranty policy to obtain additional coverage for my 2004 Cadillac Escalade. My first payment of $195.00 was considered a down payment and was paid on 11/26/07. The total cost of the agreement was $2,576.00 for 48 months. Due to a missed monthly payment, this policy was cancelled on 2/16/08. I was instructed to pay $271.17 to reinstate my policy and this full amount was paid on 3/24/08 via electronic debit card. All of my monthly payments were collected by Mepco. It is documented in my policy and I was verbally informed by Mepco that my vehicle would be officially covered under this warranty policy after 30 days; therefore, on 4/24/08 my vehicle should have been covered under the newly reinstated policy paid on 3/24/08.

On 5/2/08 my vehicle was taken to Armen Cadillac in Plymouth Meeting, PA for diagnostic testing due to gear shift problems. It was discovered that my vehicle had no third gear and needed to be repaired. Armen Cadillac contacted Dealer Services for authorization and payment, but was told that the policy would not cover the repair. I had to pick up my vehicle (3 days later) on 5/5/08 and had to pay $104.94 to the cadillac dealership for the diagnostic testing they completed.

I was told by Dealer Services that my policy had to be active for 60 days in order to be covered. I then contacted Mepco to express my outrage and they told me that I should be covered after 30 days. After relaying the information told to me by Dealer Services they said they would call me back after they contacted Dealer Services themselves to discuss this error. I was called back by a Mepco representative and she said that Dealer Services said they were under new owners and the 30 day policy was changed to 60 days when coverage is re-activated after a cancellation.

My vehicle was repaired at AAMCO Transmissions and I was forced to pay $2,891.14.
