I purchased a used 1995 Jeep Wrangler from this dealership on November 7 for a purchase price of $4,915.78. To date, repairs for this vehicle have totaled $3,634.15. This vehicle has been driven a total of 11,879 miles since I took ownership It is my primary means of transportation to work, and has never been driven off road since I took possession. However, I have thus far had to replace a bent rear axle, radiator and hoses, and the transmission. I am also facing additional repairs which will cost about $1000.
I contacted the dealership about these problems and was urged to come and look at other vehicles on their lot. I took a look at several vehicles and then inquired about a particular truck. The salesman told me that I didn't really want that truck because as he put it, "You would be right back here in a month in the same situation that you are now".
I am persuaded that this dealership does not deal fairly or honestly with consumers. I am also convinced that the vehicle that I purchased from their dealership is a lemon. When buying a used vehicle, I as a consumer do not expect a Silver Shadow Rolls-Royce. But I do expect to purchase a vehicle that is mechanically sound and free of major defects. And I don't believe that is too much to ask of a car dealership. You can judge for yourself, but others would be far better off shopping elsewhere for a new or used automobile.
