Auto transmission - 2012 Ford Focus Se Sedan

In January 12, I bought a 2012 Focus SE 4 dr sedan with an automatic transmission. The main problem has been the automatic transmission. From the very first weeks, I noticed a problem when the transmission shifted gears. I took it to my local Ford dealer and was told that Ford was aware of the problem but that at this time nothing could be done as Ford Motor Company was working on an upgrade for this kind of problem. The main problem is that when you are moving from a standstill or "crawling" say 5-8 miles an hour and you step on it, the transmission sometimes fails to shift, the rpm's go away high (4-6000 rpms) and nothing happens until you remove your foot from the accelerator. Once you do that the transmission shifts and the car accelerates to speed. But for a few seconds you are frozen in time. This has happened to me several times and I have been lucky by the grace of God, that this has not caused me an accident. I believe this is a bad situtation waiting to happen. Imagine if I this occurs when I merge into traffic and the transmission doesn't shift or stalls and the car does not move. I have had many Ford products, including a 2010 Ford Mustang GT (boy what a car) and none have had this problem. I am 70 years old and I hope you do not take this problem lightly. Now, this problem does not happen on a regular basis and I have tried to duplicate the problem but to no avail; it just happens when it happens; The car has 1,450 miles on it. Please advise me what steps I need to take to have this resolved.
Thank you.
