I purchased a 1997 Ford Taurus in 1998. I was very excited. At the age of 41 I was just learning to drive and buying my first car. I had heard a lot about the dependability of the Ford Taurus so was quite excited to have it as my first vehicle.
Unfortunately I have been pouring money into that car ever since. I have had a series of problems with the car. The most expensive problem has been the transmission that just went out without any apparent reason 2 years after I purchased the car. (The car was only 3 years old.)
I had the transmission rebuilt. (At a cost of nearly $3000) Today I took my car in to the dealership and guess what. There is a problem with my transmission again. This time it is a much smaller problem.
However why am I having all these problems with this car. And why am I hearing more and more about the 1997 Ford Taurus being a lemon? What's going on? What is the company going to do about it?
I trusted Ford and bought their car, but boy am I sorry.
