I went to the Midas on Windmill Parkway in Henderson, NV tonight after work for an oil change. Of course, they told me how I needed to change my brake fluid for $89. All seemed well and I began my drive 20 miles to my home.
About 1/2 way there, smoke started pouring out of my engine - I don't mean a little smoke, I mean I couldn't breath, people were honking and the POLICE pulled me over smoke! The office said I could not drive my car with that much smoke and he would tow it if he caught me driving it again.
I called the shop and was told that they were closing in 10 minutes, that I should drive back 20 miles tomorrow and let them fix it. They want me to drive 20 miles so I can damage my engine even further? Maybe I can get arrested and my car towed. I find it unbelievable that I went on the Midas website and asked for help twice but no one has called me yet! I can't believe that the manager told me to come back tomorrow and couldn't be bothered to fix his mistake tonight.
I drove home and risked getting my car towed because I had no other way home. Cars were honking, people told me my car was on fire! All I could do was scream at them that Midas screwed up my car. The Midas manager's comment? It's just a little oil on the engine - keep driving and it will burn right off. Really? The police didn't seem to think so. What's the Midas touch? Driving down the street with your car in flames or getting arrested?
