After pulling my transmission myself I took it to Transplant Transmissions to exchange it for a rebuilt one. When we got to the shop they told me that they made a mistake when I called and they did not have my type of transmission in stock. They said they would rebuild my transmission. So I paid them $1,100.00.
After 2 weeks I finally got my transmission back. I installed it myself. Something that I have done many times in my life on many different vehicles. I installed the "newly rebuilt transmission". Once it was in the transmission was still not working. It was doing the same thing as when I pulled it out. It would not go into any of the gears. Seemed like it was getting stuck in neutral. I called the shop and told them what it was doing. First they asked if I put the Torque Converter in correctly. This can be tricky but it does not take a rocket scientist. 2 clunks and your good. I told them yes. They then said it was probably an adjustment that I am missing and if I wanted I could have the truck towed to the shop and they would look at it.
I had my truck towed to save my time and have them look at it. I am getting married in March so I don't have the time to mess with it. I had my truck towed in on the first week of January. After the first week I called them to get an update. They told me they had one more thing to check, they would not tell me what they thought MIGHT even be the issue. So then ANOTHER week went by and no word from them. When I called they told me they had to check more stuff out on it but would not tell me exactly what. They said they would call me the next day for an update. After 3 weeks went by and I heard the same story come out of their mouths every time I would call. I told them I wanted to know exactly what was going on. They told me at first that a check valve was put in backwards. I asked them if they fixed it.
They told me it was not but they will be working on it soon. A few more days went by and I called again. They then told me that the valve assembly was shot and they had to rebuild it. They said they would call me the next day. After THEY didn't call, I called on a Thursday for an update. I was told they pulled the transmission and they would have it back together and running by Monday. After Monday came and went I called for yet another update. Then they told me that they really didn't pull my transmission, I was misinformed by one of there employees because there just happened to be another truck exactly like mine in the shop. They then told me that they rebuilt the valve body and that was not the issue so they were looking at other issues.
After MUCH frustration, going on 2 months without a vehicle, I am taking my truck to another shop. Once it is fixed properly I fully intend on placing a law suit against Transplant Transmissions. I really wish I would have checked reviews before hand. A valuable lesson learned in not doing so. I really hope if you are reading this you will take my word and not go to them.
