I spent $1200 to have my transmission rebuilt. It's been 17 months now. After bringing my truck to Cottman 60 or so times in that 17 month period, they have put 4 different transmissions in my truck. Twice they sent me to other garages to have the vacum pressure tested. After going to two different garages and them both telling me I had no problem, I purchased a vacum gauge and took it to Cottman for Brant the manager to see that it had correct vacum pressure, he said that he his gauge must be bad. He then said that I should sell my truck because he is sick of working on it. The 4th and final time that they put a transmission in my truck, they drove my truck to another shop that was 106.2 miles round trip.
When I picked up my truck Brant told me that I needed to go and buy the correct transmission for my truck and that they would rebuild it, because the transmission that I brought them and the 4 transmissions that they put in my truck were all the wrong transmissions and that I needed to take my truck back to the garage to have the timing chain looked at, because thats why my truck has no power now. This is the worst my truck has ever preformed, so I asked for my $1200 back. The owner informed me that he would give $400 of my $1200 back but that he lost way too much money trying to fix my truck and that they should have charged me more than $1200. Since then I have takin my truck to 4 other transmission shops, 2 of which were Cottmans and they all 4 told me that nothing was wrong with my timing belt and that the transmission needed to be repaired or rebuilt and that there is not a special transmission for my truck.
