Our son took his 2007 Toyota Sienna to Ken at A1 Transmission Experts to have a remanufactured transmission installed. Ken said he would have the car done in one week and wanted payment up front. After 2 weeks our son went to the shop to see what was going on. One of the mechanics in the shop said they have not started on his car yet. Later that same day the manager, Ken, said the car would be done the next day. So the next day Ken claimed that they had installed the remanufactured transmission but the problem was still there. So then Ken said they removed the new transmission and installed a 'test' transmission to test the wiring harness. Then he said that he would reinstall the original transmission and give us all of our money back. According to the Alldata labor estimating guide the transmission replacement takes 11 hours to do and Ken claims he did the three changes (33 hours of work) in a day and a half. Our son got a tip from another shop that many newer vehicles have the vehicles VIN number on the transmission ID tag. He asked to look at the car and found the ID tag on the transmission with the VIN matching the vehicle proving that it was still the original transmission in the car. This happened 5 minutes after Ken told our son that the test transmission was in the car. Caught red handed in the lie, Ken decided to hide behind his mechanic and said he did not know what his mechanic was doing and could not explain why the original transmission was still in the car.
I called the company that he told us did the rebuild and they said the did not rebuild any transmission for Kens shop.
So far we have not got our money back and I don't know if we will.
