I purchased a 99' Ford Escort ZX2 from Butler Pre-Owned in Butler. I should have known that the car was bad news after I saw on the print out of what they serviced on the car. They flushed the transmission. They told me that they did that with all there cars with 50,000 miles or more.
I put 600 miles on the car and the transmission was screwed up. So I returned the car to them and made my complaint. Well it just so happened that they sold me this extended warranty "Smart Choice 2000".
The deductible was $50. The manager wanted me to pay for it and I argued that point. And 2 rental cars later my car was fixed. The total cost was $1570.00.
Almost a yr. Later the car started acting up again. I called up Butler Pre-Owned to tell them that the car was acting up again. They informed me that the warranty company I purchased from them was no longer in business and that the money I paid for the warranty was to be considered a loss. The warranty was $1500. That was $1500 more to finance than the purchase of the car. It was suppose to cover my car for 4 yrs. And/or 48000 miles. I ended up with 11 months and 10,000 miles. They ripped me off in 2 ways. One: selling me a lemon to begin with. Two: selling me a $1500 worthless warranty. I'm upset that people are so dishonest these days.
