Complaint / Review
Rudy's Jaguar And Automotive
Ripoff Didn't perform or inform me of work needed to be done

On 09-18 a 1988 Jaguar XJS was taken to Rudy's Jaguar for service. The service performed was a "valve job." Engine was taken apart, cleaned, replaced gaskets and seals, and put engine back together.

Car was taken out of the shop after work was completed. Short time after i notice the car had oil leaks, exhaust leaks, smelt of burning oil. I informed Rudy of this, his reply was "it needs to be driven and needs an oil change."

I drove the car more often on longer trips and the problem became worse. I brought the car back again. Rudy told me the secondary oil pan gasket needs to be replaced.

After paying for the secondary oil pan gasket I get the car back from the shop. He tells me the oil leaks are gone and there are no more ehaust leaks. I drive the car for a short time when I notice the car has oil leaks and ehaust leaks once again.

I bring the car back to Rudy again. He tells me the primary oil pan gasket needs to be replaced. He charges me for the primary oil pan gasket and i get the car back.

He says there are no problems with the car and it needs to be driven. I drive the car to San Diego and on my way it breaks down. I bring it to Rudy and he tells me that I didnt tell him to replace a part that i didnt know existed. I told him in the begining I wanted this car as a daily driver and needed the car in top running condition, that was the agreement.

He blames me for the car breaking down. Tells me that the timing chain tention wasnt replaced. He never informed me of the risk of not changing a timing tention piece until the car broke down. The engine was taken apart by his shop and inspected for any problems, possible problems, or parts that should be replaced during the work that i had done.

This part not only should of been mentioned during the work of the valve job but should of been mention by the shop because they are a jaguar shop, they should know about jaguars, and knowing of jaguars they should be able to inform and customer of any problems that may occur or parts that should be brought up to the customer as a courtesy warning to avoid " Near " future problems and common sense to bring up in the shops perspective.

Result of the car breaking down, Another jaguar shop has checked the car and came to conclusion of improper or no cleaning of the engine parts when put back together, or improper placement or sealing of gaskets ie. Heads, valve covers, and intake manifold.

The car, because of the problem that it was, had oil and coolant in the intake, and other parts that oil and coolant do not go.
