My wife called Suburban Dodge after seeing there TV spot claiming "Good Credit, Bad Credit, No Credit... Everyone is approved".
My wife received a verbal commitment over the phone from someone in Finance that she was approved for any car 2004 year range.
After driving 1 hour 15 minutes to the dealership, they told us my wife could not get approved because she has a leased vehicle in her name. The salesman asked if we could put the car in my name, I have challenged credit and informed the salesman of that, upfront and forthright. He said no problem, if I could put down $2000.00.
We agreed, of course they ran the check through to verify it was good and then he proceeded to show us 3 cars on the entire huge lot that we could be approved for at an outrageous interest rate. We declined that offer in a hurry.
I said that my father would co-sign for me if I needed. He said great, that would allow us to get into the car we wanted with a much better interest rate. To this point we had been at the dealership with our 2 young sons for 3.5 hours due to them hem-hawwing around the entire evening.
We choose a vehicle Nissan XTerra, and then we talked turkey on the price, came to a mutual agreement on the price and they gave it to us for the weekend to try out and then come back the following Tuesday with my father to sign the paperwork.
We came back on Tuesday and waited again for 4 hours while they suppossedly were preparing the paperwork. When we finally got in with the Finance Manager, they tried to back door us by putting the vehicle in my fathers name only, with out ever discussing it with us. Had they told us we would have never drove the 1 hour and 15 minutes to get the truck.
They use very deceptive language as far as how they present the deal to you. They are purposely general and will bold faced lie to you when you ask the salesperson a specific question before you sign anything.
They even tried to tell us they had never heard of Kelly Blue Book pricing. What automobile dealership has never heard of Kelly Blue Book.
After all of the waiting and trickery, they tried to justify themselves and back out of all there general and deceicing statements. My wife and I were extremely disappointed and frustrated. But being the Christian people we are, we rose above them and did not use vulgar language and lies in conversation with them.
Please be aware of these and other tricks they will use to try and get you into the vehicle they want you in, at the price they want. They treat you as if you are at their mercy.
