About four months ago I contacted Karway Transmissions in Mesa about
overhauling a GETRAG 5 speed transmission. They assured me they
could overhaul it, and that it would take about a week. I sent them
the transmission for overhaul based on their assurances.
Though I called them about once a week for nearly three months, I
never got the transmission back from them. I got all sorts of
excuses and promises, but never got the transmission back. About a
month ago I was contacted by a "Kirk, " at Karway, who blamed the
problem on an employee who was let go. Kirk promised a speedy
repair and return of the transmission and we agreed on a reasonable
price of $1500, and about two weeks to complete the job. Then, two
weeks ago, I got a call from Kirk that they could not overhaul the
transmission because of a lack of repair parts. I told him to ship
the transmission back to me, he agreed. So far, I have not received
the transmission, though I have sent them faxes and called them.
The transmission is worth about $7000. All I want is to have them
ship it back at their cost. They should reimburse me for shipment
to them, as they made promises they could not keep. I spent $157
shipping it to them. These guys have in effect stolen my
transmission.
