Although not all car dealerships are corrupt there is no way to be absolute certain until you show up on their lot unless their deceptive and unfair practices were made public. Some dealerships will resort to threat of physical force or threaten to use it when all of their tricks have failed to defraud their newest victim. Items to take and precautions to be followed are.
1. Pepperspray or some other weapon to use when it is impossible to leave a dealership without physical confrontation.
2. Micro-tape recorder or other recording device to record car dealership visit in case something happens.
3. At least 2 very large friends for backup/witness.
4.inform friends or family of exact dealership you are visiting in case you do not return in reasonable time so knows where to find you.
5. Arrange financing before going to the dealership to avoid their fraudelent practices.By doing this only thing have to get is the keys, tags, etc.
6. Stay out of the finance office (especially if it is a small enclosed office with only one exit) Its called "the box for a reason". Have the F&I manager bring the necessary paperwork to the main lobby where there are multiple exits because the ugliest fraud occur in the F&I office.
Visiting a car dealership should be viewed same as visiting a high crime area because there are car salemen and F&I managers willing to use any tactics necessary to make a sale. Consumers should defend themselves accordingly. Have fun on your next car shopping experience!
